Take care…

…as you step out of the four corners of the building you call your home, and feel on your skin the subtle breeze of the wind, the comfortable warmth of the afternoon sun.

…as you rake your fingers through your hair, and wrap your arms around yourself as you wait, ever patiently, for things to normalise — it has been a while since you have felt someone’s arms around yours; arms promising you safety, security, certainty. You will feel them again, if only you wait. The waiting, I know, is the hardest. And yet, it is also what’s worth the long hours, the endless yearning, the silent wishes.

…as you tilt your head to the sky, willing for rain to fall to remind you of change; of leaves to sway in the air and find home in the ground to remind you of transitions; of the sun to peek from behind massive grey clouds to remind you to look forward to mornings.

…as you reach out to loved ones, knowing fully well that for now — at least for now — your messages of comfort should be enough. Your hugs and kisses, they can wait, but the subtle Of course, I know you can, I’m looking forward to it, have effects that are unparalleled, and will be all that can matter, should matter, will have no choice but to matter, in the moment.

…as you plan anew; as you rummage through calendars that only make sense to you and to the people you hold dear. The dates? The dinners? The dares and desires to reconnect? It will happen. It will happen. It will happen.

…as you read this, if you do. Wherever in the world you are, at whatever time you read this — regrettably in the past, settled nicely in the future, resting calmly in the present.

Take care. Stay safe. Be well. Whoever, or wherever, you are.

I hope you are well.
