Evening meditation:
Feeling sad this Christmas?
Many people do.
Comparing memories of happier Christmases with this one.
Thinking about loved ones who have died, or from whom we are estranged, or who are no longer in touch with us.
Worries about work.
Worries about health.
Feeling left out.
Feeling lonely.
All these things can conspire to make Christmas a sad time for some.
Which then makes them feel guilty.
Is there a way out?
Tonight in your prayer why not focus only on things you’re grateful for.
No need to force the gratitude.
Just call to mind a few blessings.
And let the gratitude arise in you, naturally.
Like a dry land is watered by the rain.
Which is what Jesus’s coming felt like to the people of Israel.
And now you’re in Christmas.
