On Spontaneous Spontaneity (I am not lost to the redundancy of this title)

On Spontaneous Spontaneity

It was past 9 pm, and the best friend and I were already halfway through our store-brought breakfast burritos (breakfast food, we believe, can – and should – be served 24/7) when we decided to pack up and go to a beach because we haven’t been out of town for the past year.

After calling a few other friends who were around the vicinity, we were already on the road to Batangas City at 11 PM. We arrived at our destination at 2 in the morning; a destination which, I am inclined to say, was not at all planned beforehand, but no one really made a deal out of it, small or otherwise.

This black sand beach (pictured above. It was my first time to stumble upon one), was the sight that greeted us this morning when we strode out of the wooden fences, half-asleep and fully-groggy from the events of the prior night (which involved a half-dozen gummy bear packs, chips, and other junk, and a lot of Jack Johnson).Β Not in this picture, however, but was equally as mesmerizing, were the huge waves. Not big enough to surf on, but certainly large enough to scare me.

(Pet peeve, however, the place was littered with trash in certain areas. There were people around cleaning, but obviously their number was far fewer than the visitors. I wish we would all be mindful of our trash when we go to places…)

Moral of this anecdote: Sometimes, the best decisions are those that are arrived at halfway through your burrito. πŸ™‚

(I’ll post a run-through of photos of today’s trip! Hopefully, I’ll get to post Kalinga photos first, though!)
